You are Amory, a soldier of the Blue Guard visiting your Huguenot cousins in Paris the night dragoons are ordered to billet in their house over their faith. An American stranger, Amos Green, arrives claiming an old family trading tie and stays to back you with a frontier pistol when the dragoon captain lays hands on you and seizes the family Bible. The captain rides off promising twelve conversions by dawn, and before you can plan for that, a courier arrives summoning you to Versailles before sunrise.
