There is no cookie banner on this site. Measurement is on for everyone, and this page says what that means instead of asking you a question at the door. Most of what NetFable remembers is not a cookie at all — themes and older progress use local storage; personas and playthroughs use IndexedDB. Signed-in personas, reading saves, and preferences are saved privately with your account. See Privacy for that list.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | Expires |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics | Distinguishes one browser from another so visits can be counted | 2 years |
_ga_<id> | Google Analytics | Keeps session state for the same purpose | 2 years |
nf_session | NetFable | Only if you sign in: access your private personas, reading saves, and settings, and credit community contributions to you | 30 days |
nf_oauth | NetFable | Only while signing in: guards that one round trip against being forged, then is deleted | 10 minutes |
Nothing here is used for advertising, and nothing is sold or shared with data brokers.
Every story reads exactly the same with or without the analytics cookie. Your
browser can refuse it: block third-party or all cookies for this site in its settings,
use any content blocker, or install Google's
opt-out add-on.
Clearing site data removes these cookies and browser copies of your personas and reading saves.
Successfully synced account saves remain in your account. Signing out removes
nf_session and that account’s local reading cache; unsynced changes require an
explicit discard choice before sign-out. Guest saves stay separate.
Cloudflare, which serves the site, measures page performance without setting a cookie and without identifying visitors. There is nothing to accept or refuse.
