You play Princess Irene, who finds a spinning-wheel tower and a great-great-grandmother nobody else in the castle admits exists. Her nurse Lootie refuses to believe it, until a walk past dusk lands them both inside a ring of goblins, and it's the miner boy Curdie's rhymes, not Lootie's caution, that clears a path home. When your grandmother ties an invisible thread to a ring, you follow it alone, leaving Lootie behind, into a mine passage where Curdie lies trapped behind a rockslide the goblins are guarding.
