You play Lorne Murchison, growing up in small-town Elgin arguing over crackers and lacrosse tickets on the Queen's Birthday, and growing into a young lawyer sent to London as secretary to a Canadian trade deputation. There you test a vague loyalty to the Empire against ledgers, unions, and a skeptical Englishman's needling. Home again, applause outruns the deputation's modest report, and a Liberal nomination and Dora Milburn both wait in the crowd.
