You are Richard Hannay, settled into fatherhood and Parliament, until Macgillivray brings a nursery rhyme sent to three families whose children vanished willingly. Suspicion falls on Dominick Medina, poet, war hero, the guest everyone wants at dinner. You invite him to Fosse Manor and watch him name the one word marked on the rhyme without being shown it. By the fence that night he offers to prove no one commands another mind, then asks, mid-demonstration, where a hollow road ends.
