You play Harry Latham, a Fifth Avenue jeweler whose morning post brings an unregistered diamond finer than anything in the vault. Your firm's gem expert, Czenki, discovers that every leading jeweler in the city received an identical stone the same morning, and the sender, E. van Cortlandt Wynne, summons you all to explain: he claims to control an impossible new supply, and gives the trade one day to buy in. Detectives tail him afterward, and his bag empties itself in full view of them.
