You are Sylvia Robson, out with your father to watch a whaling ship come into Monkshaven, when Philip Hepburn warns that a press gang has crossed from Shields. Among the returning crew, wounded specksioneer Charlie Kinraid catches your eye. As officers close on the wharf, you help pick the escape route: Philip leads the injured through the herring warehouses while Kinraid stays to cover the last men out. The gang gets to him first — and orders your father's arrest besides.
