How it opens
The summons came at four in the morning by a footman with a lanthorn, and a doctor new to Harley Street does not refuse a great house at that hour.
Wetherby House stood with one window lit, the library window, and the butler at the door had the face of a man rehearsing a sentence.
I will certify what I find, madam, and tonight I have found pin-point pupils and a family in a hurry.
Lady WetherbyYou will certify the heart, doctor, and you will find your career in the hurry.
Choose
Sign the certificate as the heart, take the envelope, and be a great house's family doctor.
Decline the certificate and ask for a second opinion jointly.
Sign nothing, say nothing, and pocket the corner of the burned letter instead.
